    Use of Dybuster

For which children is Dybuster not suitable?
Dybuster is not suitable for children who cannot concentrate when using a computer. Also, users should have adequate basic computer skills so that they can achieve a smooth working flow when working with Dybuster.

Can children without dyslexia also benefit from training with Dybuster?

Yes. The study conducted by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology together with the University of Zurich (Webpage http://graphics.ethz.ch/dybuster) showed that children without dyslexia benefited significantly from training with Dybuster as opposed to children who did not. However, for dyslexics the improvement in reading and writing is much more dramatic

    Software Operations

The syllabification of the words does not function correctly when inputting my own words. When I type in 'shine shone shone' the word shone then appears as ' s-hone'. What can I do to correct this?

The fact is that the automatic syllabification rules in Dybuster sometimes make mistakes. To work around this, Dybuster disables this automation whenever users type in a hyphen(-)    themselves. This also applies if you simply place a hyphen at the end. So when you type in "shine shone shone-", Dybuster will store " shine shone shone". In principle, you can also establish your own divisions, for example, infinitives, separate prefixes, etc.

The Graphics will not display correctly? What can I do?

First, please try to update the driver for your graphics card (see below). When the graphics displayed are still wrong, then contact us by filling out the contact form. Please include the name of your operating system and your graphic card. Example: "Windows Vista, Mobile Intel(r) 945 GM Express Chipset". With this information, it may be possible for us to send a program to correct the problem. You may find the name of the graphic card on "Display settings", "Advanced Settings" under "Adapter".

The tones for the letters do not sound. However, the error tone sounds when an error is made. The repeat button (Speech) also functions. Must an adjustment be made somewhere?

Yes. In your case, the voice output is activated but not the playback for Midi-sounds. To activate this, you can double-click on the loudspeaker at the lower right hand corner of your screen. You should now see approx. 6 volume controls for the different devices. If they are not all displayed, please select "Options" -> "Properties" and then activate all volume controls with a check mark. Then click OK. Make certain that there is no volume control check marked with " No Sound". Afterwards, after a restart of your computer, the sound should function.

How do I update my Graphics Card Driver?

Updating the graphics driver is a common issue. There are two ways to solve this problem. The first way is to let Windows install the most current driver for your Graphic card. Click with the right hand button of your mouse anywhere on the screen. This opens a window and then select the option " Properties".   In the window that appears, click "Settings" and then click on "Advanced". In this window, click on "Graphic Card" and then  "Properties". In this window, then click on "Driver." Here, you can select "Update" and then follow the instructions from Windows.

However, the problem with Windows is that the graphic card drivers, which are standard for Windows, are not the most current drivers. When the new installation by Windows does not resolve your problem, then you must install it manually. To do this, go to the Homepage of the manufacturer of your graphic card and download the most current driver for your card. When you go through the same procedure as described above, you will find the name of your graphic card. The first part of the name is usually the name of the manufacturer. You can search directly on the Internet with the name of your graphic card. You should quickly find the most current driver. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for updating or reinstalling your driver.
